Yahad Defined
(Hebrew, "Unity," "Oneness") A term appearing in several of the Dead Sea Scrolls that designates a particularly pious group of purity-loving brethren within the Judaean Desert sect who chose to live communally and composed some of the scrolls. The sect, as revealed in its writings divided humanity between the righteous and the wicked and asserted that human nature and everything that happens in the world are irrevocably predestined.
